02 / A POSSIBLE CONTEXT
What might the question have been?
Routes and relationships are open again. How long can this favorable condition last?
A possible setting
Smaller forces depart and larger ones arrive. Neighbors, marriage connections, walls, and ditches suggest a setting of restored exchange, peace, or political communication.
How the words respond
The opening line favors advancing together. The next lines warn that openness must include distant places and that level ground will not remain level forever. Marriage and association mark a high point. The collapse of a wall into its ditch ends the sequence with a warning against using troops.
Movement in both directions is temporarily possible, yet its favorable conditions can reverse.
This scenario adapts the Chinese edition's historical reading. It is a possible reconstruction, not an established single event or the only interpretation.
