02 / A POSSIBLE CONTEXT

What might the question have been?

Can different clans or forces meet in the open and cooperate in crossing a river or fighting?

A possible setting

Allies arrange to assemble outside a settlement. Some stay within a doorway or their own clan. Others hide weapons or watch from higher ground. Cooperation remains uncertain.

How the words respond

The judgment favors open assembly and crossing the river. A narrowly clan-bound meeting brings distress. Ambush and a position on the wall do not lead to a successful attack. The fifth line moves from crying to laughter when the forces finally meet.

READING THREAD

Assembly, river crossing, hidden weapons, and high ground suggest phases of an alliance or coordinated military action.

This scenario adapts the Chinese edition's historical reading. It is a possible reconstruction, not an established single event or the only interpretation.
