  7. 上六:乘馬班如,泣血漣如。

Six at the top: The horses wheel about. Tears of blood flow continuously.

02 / A POSSIBLE CONTEXT

What might the question have been?

Are the approaching people raiders or a marriage party? Can a marriage, alliance, or new settlement take shape?

A possible setting

Horses and carts hesitate on the road while one party cannot identify the other's intentions. A new settlement also lacks stable leadership. Marriage, deer hunting, appointing a lord, and prolonged waiting appear together as situations involving uncertain beginnings.

How the words respond

The judgment discourages immediate departure but favors appointing a leader. Line 2 identifies marriage seekers rather than raiders, although marriage is delayed. Line 3 warns against hunting without a guide. Line 4 favors going to seek marriage. First establish intentions, guidance, and support.

READING THREAD
