蒙：亨。匪我求童蒙，童蒙求我。初筮告，再三瀆，瀆則不告。利貞。
Meng: Success. I do not seek the inexperienced youth; the inexperienced youth seeks me. At the first milfoil consultation I answer. A second and third are disrespectful; to disrespect I give no answer. A favorable determination.
初六：發蒙，利用刑人，用說桎梏，以往吝。
Six at the beginning: Bringing inexperience to light. Favorable to discipline the person and release the shackles. Continuing in this way brings distress.
九二：包蒙吉，納婦吉，子克家。
Nine in the second place: Accommodating inexperience is auspicious. Taking a wife is auspicious. The son can manage the household.
六三：勿用取女，見金夫，不有躬，无攸利。
Six in the third place: Do not take this woman in marriage. Seeing a wealthy man, she loses command of herself. Nothing is favorable.
六四：困蒙，吝。
Six in the fourth place: Trapped in inexperience. Distress.
六五：童蒙，吉。
Six in the fifth place: Youthful inexperience. Auspicious.
上九：擊蒙，不利為寇，利禦寇。
Nine at the top: Striking at inexperience. Unfavorable to act as a raider; favorable to resist raiders.

What might the question have been?
May someone ask the same question repeatedly until the answer is the one they want?
A possible setting
A young or inexperienced client approaches a diviner, dislikes the answer, and asks for another consultation. The judgment gives an unusually direct glimpse of the relationship between the person asking and the person interpreting.
How the words respond
The diviner does not seek the inexperienced client; the client seeks the diviner. The first consultation receives an answer. Repeated questioning is treated as disrespectful and receives none. The lines then distinguish several situations of inexperience, instruction, and restraint.
The judgment sets limits on repeated consultation. The relationship between questioner and diviner is itself part of the text.
This scenario adapts the Chinese edition's historical reading. It is a possible reconstruction, not an established single event or the only interpretation.
