益：利有攸往。利涉大川。
Yi: Favorable to have somewhere to go. Favorable to cross the great river.
初九：利用為大作，元吉，无咎。
Nine at the beginning: Favorable to undertake great work. Great good fortune; no blame.
六二：或益之，十朋之龜弗克違，永貞吉。王用享于帝，吉。
Six in the second place: Someone adds a tortoise worth ten pairs of shells; it cannot be refused. A lasting determination is auspicious. The king makes an offering to Di, the High God. Auspicious.
六三：益之用凶事，无咎。有孚中行，告公用圭。
Six in the third place: Increasing support for a disastrous affair. No blame. With trust and a middle course, report to the lord using a jade tablet.
六四：中行，告公從。利用為依遷國。
Six in the fourth place: Taking a middle course, report to the lord and be followed. Favorable to provide support in moving the state.
九五：有孚惠心，勿問元吉。有孚惠我德。
Nine in the fifth place: Trust and a generous heart. Without asking: great good fortune. There is trust that favors my conduct.
上九：莫益之，或擊之，立心勿恆，凶。
Nine at the top: No one benefits this person; someone strikes them. An unsteady resolve. Inauspicious.

What might the question have been?
With additional labor, grain, or valuables, is the time right to travel, manage a river, or relocate a community?
A possible setting
A community has gained resources and must choose among crossing water, responding to disaster, relocating, and making offerings or reports to a superior.
How the words respond
The judgment favors both movement and a river crossing. Major undertakings, a valuable tortoise, disaster relief, and relocation appear in the lines. The final warning reverses the pattern: someone receives no benefit and is attacked.
Increase makes action possible, but the use and distribution of the gain still determine its consequences.
